French-Inspired Bedroom Ideas

Nowhere is the increasingly popular French decorative style more appropriate than in the bedroom. The style has just the right combination of light-hearted fun and cosmopolitan sophistication for a private boudoir. Whether it’s the trim, refined style of a Parisian café or the pastoral style of the French countryside, French-inspired decorating can create a stylish bedroom. Here are a few tips on how to decorate a bedroom in the French style.

For a comfortable and cozy French bedroom, the French Provincial style is ideal. Bright yellow and Mediterranean blue are a typical color combination of the style, a color palette that works well in the bedroom. The color white helps to marry the two primary shades in floral patterns and checked prints. The Provincial style features rustic interpretations of the French Courts of the 17th century, with the same lines and forms as the aristocratic style but with a hand-crafted flair. Chairs with caned backs and seats rather than ornate embroidery, and tables made of wrought iron are examples of the French Provincial style.

Wrought iron is heavily featured in the metropolitan French style as well, used for bed frames, tables and chairs as well as scrolled accents on shelving. A black-and-white color palette, punctuated by bright pink define the Parisian-inspired bedroom. Fabrics are a combination of crisp white linens and plush bedding, carpeting and drapery. French-inspired decorative styles are superbly suited for the bedroom, adding charm and distinction to the room where the day both begins and ends.

Luxury Walk-in Closet Ideas

Everyone dreams of having the perfect closet. The luxury of space often means better organization and the inclusion of a few special amenities. In addition to the joys of having a new spot for hanging clothes, an upscale design will also improve the value of a home when it comes time to sell.

When space is an issue, it may be time to turn to an adjoining spare room. With the assistance of a professional planner or contractor, it may be possible to make this expansion. Converting an existing closet is typically a first choice that, with a few modifications, can become a luxury wardrobe area. Decorating with light cabinetry and brighter lighting can make small spaces appear larger.

Organization is probably the biggest challenge. Cabinetry, either built-in or freestanding, can optimize both wall and floor space. Drawers with glass pane fronts make identification easy while keeping out dust. Custom shoe racks are also upscale appointments. Breaking up hanging sectionals to accommodate short and longer items gives closet space a sophisticated appeal. At the center, a storage island with drawers is the ultimate when it comes to beautiful and practical decor.

Flooring and lighting are also critical components. In deciding how to decorate, wood is always a fine choice. Consider carpeting or an area rug if the closet is large enough to be a dressing area. Artificial lighting, as opposed to natural light, will help preserve clothing and accessories. Consider a chandelier as a finishing element for any luxury closet.

How to Create a Relaxed Moroccan Seating Area

Get away from the pressure and relax in a comfortable and soft Moroccan decor with these few Moroccan decorating ideas for your lounge and living room!

Sofas and tables

Moroccan décor is known for its relaxing environment. To create the distinct Moroccan look, choose inviting sofas and tables set low to the ground. Moroccan sofas are usually made of leather, wooden or metal platforms. A good Moroccan decorating tip to easily create a relaxing home interior is to place your Moroccan sofas or custom-made corner bed against the walls. This will provide you more space and will instantly set a comfortable tone to your living room!

Don’t forget that your goal is to create an inviting seating area where your family and guests will want to pass a lot of time. For this, add to the room carved wooden chairs and benches, ottomans and leather poufs placed around tea or opium tables made from Thuja trees.

Many pillows and cushions

In order to unwind in a living room with a Moroccan decoration, you must also absolutely add pillows and cushions to your furniture. If you choose wooden or metal platforms sofas, consider rich textures and patterns for your pillows. Don’t forget that the shape is very important! For example, cylindrical and oblong pillows are good choices to add mystery to your Moroccan décor.

You should also consider rectangular throw pillows made from luxurious fabrics that will offer a cozy setting for your friends and family get-togethers. Finally, a nice way to complement your Moroccan decoration is to find cushion covers or silk bedcovers in jewel tones!

How to Create a Greek-Style Patio Area

A balcony or a patio is part of every Greek style home. Especially if you live in a warm climate, you can easily achieve this peaceful and sun-loving look inspired by the beautiful Mediterranean decor.

1. White and cracked walls

Give your patio an authentic Mediterranean look with white and cracked walls. Brick or adobe walls, but also tiles imitating brick patterns are good choices. A good tip to get the cracked effect common to the Mediterranean decor is to sandpapering your walls. You can also mix fine cement and fine sand onto your walls to create a dry impression. Don’t forget that a Greek style patio will work better in a hot area where the sun can naturally bleach your walls!

2. Mediterranean plants in terracotta pots

A Greek style patio area would not be complete without Mediterranean plants in terracotta pots such as lavender, thyme, rosemary, oleander and geraniums placed on a bed of pea gravel. These plants will also keep your patio cool, but don’t overcrowd them. If you are lucky enough to have a yard, don’t hesitate to extend your Mediterranean decor style with olive or citrus trees, for example.

3. Rustic and iron furniture & accessories

Greeks and the Mediterranean in general love to have guests and to eat in an outdoor dining area such as the patio. Opt for strong and rustic furniture made from cast iron or wood. For example, a nice way to add a greek decoration touch to your patio is to choose a table with a mosaic top and wrought-iron cafe-style chairs. Don’t forget to also place a little glass-topped table perfect to put on mezze (a selection of small dishes). Add a Mediterranean decor look to your patio as well with accessories like robust iron candle holders.

4 Tips for Small Dining Rooms

Selecting the right home furniture for a small dining room design can be difficult. Try to rise to the challenge with these 4 home decoration tips!

1. Choose a simple color palette

Keep the color palette simple to make your home interior feel more spacious. Complementary shades should be used as an accent if you wish to bring some contrast into your home decoration.

2. Place mirrors

Place at least 2 mirrors on the walls to open up the space of the room design. You can of course place more if you can, but don’t forget to display them on different walls. This will enlarge the perception of your house design.

3. Go for a round table and armless chairs

For your home furniture, opt for a round table with a pedestal base that will leave enough room for your extra guests. This home decoration tip is perfect for a small dining room because a round table allows people to move around your home interior more easily. For the chairs, consider ones with delicate lines and without arms that won’t limit the access to the table.

4. Select a small chandelier

You should also choose all your home furniture according to the scale of your dining room. For example, a modest chandelier will make your home interior look larger. Remember that all your home decoration choices must be made according to the visual of your house design. In this case, a chandelier with simpler lines will also give a larger look to the table.
